Territorial water management model for the industrial tomato supply chain
The project aims to develop innovative approaches that jointly assess the water requirements of the supply chain and the availability of water from different sources of supply in the areas most significant for industrial tomato cultivation in the northern basin (Piacenza, Parma and Ferrara). The purpose is to prevent potential critical issues and to enable operators, once the relevant information has been acquired, to regulate and optimize water use, preserving the resource for specific periods or areas that present vulnerabilities.
To study and develop a tool capable of promptly monitoring imbalances between water demand and actual availability in the various territories during the growing season, thereby enabling more efficient resource management and supporting the supply chain in requesting structural interventions based on accurate and reliable data.
A strategic and innovative solution for the rational and sustainable management of water resources for the industrial tomato supply chain.
To collect data and information from the project’s partner farms and, more generally, from its members, in order to support the study and development of the analytical tool and model. To participate in training activities, also through the involvement of its members.
